In Short: The Minolta-QMS 2350 EN is a network ready, high resolution, color laser printer about half the size and weight of most business class models. The Minolta 2350 EN can print up to 18ppm in black and white and up to 4ppm in color. This printer is slow compared to most color lasers but not if you compare it to other personal models like the HP 2500 series. The 2350 EN can print at up to 1200 x 1200 dpi and includes some robust features like 128MB RAM, parallel, USB, & Ethernet 100 Base T ports, PostScript3 emulation, and a 200 sheet multi-purpose tray. An additional 500-sheet feeder, auto-duplex unit, and an internal HD are optional. The print quality looks very good and is more than adequate for most business applications. At the highest setting the printer is able to print fine details from a large color palette. The black text also looks good. The replacement supplies are conveniently accessible from the front of the printer. Like most other personal lasers, the 2350 EN has a one-year exchange warranty instead of an on-site warranty. Unlike the HP 2500 series, the new Minolta-QMS 2350 EN has a front panel display for messages and an intuitive menu tree for custom configurations and valuable printer usage data. The standard 200-sheet multi purpose tray can handle a variety of paper stocks up to 60-lb. cover (163g/m2).
The Bottom Line: The Minolta-QMS 2350 EN is the least expensive network ready color laser currently available. The printer is much slower compared to most business class color lasers, but not slower than other personal color lasers. A relatively high cost per page and limited paper handling make this printer better suited for personal or low volume use. If you need a color laser printer but don't want a 100lb plus printer or don't need to print more than a few thousand pages per month, the 2350 EN is a good candidate. Despite the low price and the small size, this printer comes packed with some high end features and works well in the UNIX, Mac OS, and Window environments.
