In Short: The Minolta-QMS 3300DN is the newest and fastest color laser from this manufacturer. It is a much faster and better printing version of the 3100DN, which has been a very popular and extremely reliable printer over the last year and a half. The new 3300DN uses the fastest desk-top color engine available, along with a controller that is loaded with a powerful 450 MHz processor, 256 MB, PS3, PCL, Ethernet 100Base T, parallel, & USB ports. The printer was relatively easy to set up once it was unpacked. The four standard toners, that are included, install easily in the top rear of the printer and the main imaging unit slides down into the machine under a top hatch. Installing the Minolta-QMS 3300DN printer on the network proved to be fairly straight -forward. Printing an impressive 26 pages per minute in full color or black & white, the 3300DN went through even some of our long documents quickly. The 3300EN ships with 256 MB RAM and is network ready. The 3300DN also includes the auto-duplex upgrade for automated two-sided printing on plain paper. Both versions have a 500-sheet feeder and a 100-sheet MP tray for card stock or other sizes. The print quality on the 3300 was very good overall. The black text quality was great and the color output was above average. The best quality mode drops the printing speed in half to 13 pages per minute in full color but the 1200 x 600 mode looks good at the full 26 pages minute. Options for this printer include additional paper feeders, internal hard drive, and additional RAM.

The Bottom Line: The Minolta-QMS 3300DN is fast and reliable. The 3300EN is all the printer most offices need with print speeds of 26 PPM and a duty cycle of 60,000 pages per month. The 3300DN also has automatic two sided printing on plain paper. This printer works well in the Mac OS, UNIX, or the Windows environments. The Minolta-QMS 3300DN earns our editor's choice as one of the best values among network color laser printers.
