Ricoh SP 5100n
|
In Short: The Ricoh SP5100N is the newest and fastest desktop printer from this manufacturer. It is a 1200 dpi, monochrome, network-ready laser printers with PostScript Level3, PCL 5e/6, and PDF standard emulations. The SP5100N can print on plain paper up to legal size from it’s 500-sheet drawer and envelopes or heavier stock from the100-sheet bypass feeder. The print quality was very good on line art and grey scale. Text was sharp even on fonts as small as 2 point. We were also very impressed with the overall speed of the printer. At 45PPM and with a 500MHz processor, The SP5100N churned through even the most complex test documents at full engine speed. A 39 second warm-up time, and a fast 8.5 seconds first-page-out time combine to make the Ricoh SP5100N one of the fastest desktop printers available. The mono-component toner cartridge and the Ricoh installation software made the printer setup a breeze. The Ricoh SP5100N includes 128MB RAM as well as parallel, USB, and Ethernet 10/100 Base TX interfaces. Paper handling options include up to an additional three 500-sheet feed units, and auto-duplex.
The Bottom Line: The new Ricoh SP5100N is a very fast and reliable network ready laser printer with great print quality. The 20K page yield toner cartridge makes this printer one of the lowest cost per page at 1 cent per page. The SP 5100N works well in all network environment including Mac OS, Windows, and UNIX.
