In Short: The Ricoh AP610N is a true 1200 x 1200 dpi, large format, network-ready laser printer with Adobe PostScript Level3, PCL 5e/6, Ricoh RPCS and PDF. It can print on plain paper up to tabloid, (11”x17”), size from it’s 500-sheet drawer and envelopes or heavier stock from the 100-sheet bypass feeder. The print quality was great even on small details and fine lines. Solid blacks areas and gradients printed very well. We were also very impressed with the overall speed. The 35PPM speed rating doesn’t tell the whole story. A speedy 372MHz processor, a 19 second warm-up time, and a remarkable 6.5 seconds first-page-out time, combine to make the Ricoh AP610N a top-performing network printer. The mono-component toner cartridge and the Ricoh installation software made the printer setup a breeze. The Ricoh AP610N has 128MB RAM as well as parallel, USB 1.1/2.0, and Ethernet 10/100 BaseTX interfaces. Paper handling options include additional 500-sheet feed units (up to 2), duplex unit, and envelope cassette.
The Bottom Line: The Ricoh AP610N is a fast and reliable network ready laser printer with great print quality and paper handling. The 20K page yield toner cartridge makes this printer one of the lowest cost per page at 1.2 cents per page. The Ricoh AP610N works well in any network environment including Mac OS, Windows 9x, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003 and UNIX. The Ricoh AP610N is a great value especially if you need to print on 11’ x 17’ paper.
